Dynamic light scattering and electrophoretic mobility

The Malvern ZetaSizer Nano-ZS90 (Projeto FAPESP 09/53074-6) uses the Doppler effect to determine the velocity of particles that migrate when submitted to an electric field. The equipment also allows the determination of particle size by means of dynamic light scattering. The instrument consists of a 4mW He-Ne laser that emits a 633nm beam and a fixed detector at 90°. Temperature can be controlled within the 0 - 120°C range and samples can be read in capillary cells or 10mm optical path cuvettes.
