We are looking for highly motivated students willing to undertake theoretical challenges in Molecular Sciences. Our research lines are on the interface between Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Materials Sciences. Students and researchers with a solid background in Physics and/or Chemistry are welcome, as well as those with programing skills.

Most of our research is based on computer simulations. We use a wide range of quantum electronic structure and scattering methods, using home-mad as well as third-party computer codes. We also employ QM/MM and molecular dynamics techniques for both adiabatic and non-adiabatic processes. Our students have the opportunity to develop their skills on several of those methods, and also to implement and/or optimize our home-made computer codes. Last but not least, mathematical skills to develop models are by no means undervalued.

Mobirise

The University of São Paulo (USP) has ~100,000 students in all campuses, about 1/3 enrolled in graduate courses (see USP in numbers). Our research group is located at the Butantã campus, the largest one, in São Paulo City. The campus is a very pleasant green area, with small reserves of rain forrest, and good athletic facilities. We believe USP has a nice academic and social environment for graduate and exchange undergraduate students. The number of exchange programs as well as double-degree and cooperation agreements with universities around the world is growing fast. Interested? You might want to have a look at the International Office (AUCANI) website.

Mobirise

The Institute of Physics at Butantã campus has a widely acknowledged Graduate Program that offers fellowships for M.S. and PhD students. The applications are classified on the basis of the CV and the EUF examination. The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) also offers fellowships and all applications are appreciated individually (apart from the Graduate Program fellowships). Further information can be found on the websites of the Graduate Program in Physics (CPG) and the International Affairs Office of the Institute (CRInt).
