Getting there

From São Paulo (GRU) airport: In case nobody is picking you up, you'd better go to the nearest Information Desk and ask about the prepaid taxis/shuttles. App drivers are also an option (Uber, 99Taxi, EasyTaxi, Cabify, etc). If you feel like having a deep metropolis experience and/or saving your pennies, you could take the train. Steps as follows: 1) Ask for information and take the transfer bus to the "Aeroporto" station on the 13-Jade line. 2) Change trains at the "Engenheiro Goulart" station. Take the 12-Safira line towards "Brás" station. 3) Change trains at "Brás" (final stop). Take the subway Line 3 (red) towards "Palmeiras - Barra Funda" station. 4) Change trains at "República" station. Take the subway line 4 (yellow) towards "Vila Sônia". 5) Get off at "Butantã" station and change to the bus or take a cab (upstairs), it's not a long ride. By bus, take the 8012-10 line and get off at "Poli Biênio" stop (9 stops). Walk to the Institute of Physics (< 5 minutes). Several apps will be very helpful for public transportation, for instance GoogleMaps, Moovit, and "Cadê o Ônibus" (in Portuguese). Their use is advised to check traffic conditions, time tables and such.

From Congonhas (CGH) airport: Once more, taxi/shuttle and app drivers are recommended. In case there is traffic, it might be an option taking a taxi to the "São Judas" subway station on Line 1 (blue). Take the subway towards "Tucuruvi" station. Change trains at "Luz" station. Take Line 3 (yellow) towards "Vila Sônia" and follow the step 5) above to ride a bus/taxi to campus. Several apps will be very helpful for public transportation, for instance GoogleMaps, Moovit, and "Cadê o Ônibus" (in Portuguese). Their use is advised to check traffic conditions, time tables and such.

Further Information: There are bus lines from both airports but we would not recommend them for first timers. It is not easy to find your way in the buses - the stops are not announced or clearly indicated. There are also Bus Transfer services in both airports. The final stops are not close to campus, though.

Public transportation: São Paulo has a complex network of bus, subway and train lines. Use transportation apps (see above) and keep in mind that app drivers can always be helpful.
